About the Retreat House

GlenMary is a century farmhouse on a small, 3-acre piece of farmland, just over an hour outside of Ottawa. It was founded in 2021, motivated by a desire to provide a place of refuge and retreat for people looking to get out of the city -particularly to provide local Catholic women a place to deepen their prayer life. The farmstead is still being established with a long-term vision of providing local, healthy food to family and friends.

Silent Prayer

Prayer is the breath of the soul and of life. Praying the liturgy of the Church, spending time in silence and mental prayer and getting away from the hustle of life are all essential for our spiritual health. GlenMary is a quiet spot to pray and be in silence.

For Women and Small Groups

GlenMary has room to accommodate individual retreatants or small groups up to 4 people.

Farm Work

For those interested, there is the opportunity to do manual labour on the farmstead. Depending on the season, this could be gardening, tending the animals, or preserving food.

Silence

In a world awash in noise and constant activity and distractions, it is more needed than ever to get away into the 'desert' and to rest awhile with Christ.

Guest Room 1:
"St. Teresa Margaret of the Sacred Heart"

The quiet, hidden room, named after the beloved Carmelite Saint of the Hidden life. The calm, cool decor features a double bed, small desk and dresser. The windows face north west for a beautiful view of the setting sun. The shared bathroom is on the same floor.

Guest Room #2:
"St. Therese of the Child Jesus"

A spacious room with a queen sized bed, love seat and desk. The windows overlook the south pasture and the sun streams in the windows for a bright, cheerful room. The shared bathroom is on the second floor.

Guest Room #3:
"St. Edith Stein"

A spacious room with a double bed, large desk and rocking chair, this room is right beside the bathroom. The one window overlooks the kitchen garden and barn with bright early morning light and the sound of the rooster crowing will be sure to wake you up early.
